BATON ROUGE - Deputies arrested a man accused of child cruelty after he reportedly burned a 16-month-old girl’s feet in a hot bath.

30-year-old Joey Anderson was booked into the EBR Parish Prison after his arrest Sunday on charges of second degree cruelty to juveniles along with a traffic warrant for speeding.

East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office deputies said they responded to a local hospital on Sunday where a father brought his girl to be treated for burns to the feet.

The father told investigators he dropped the child off at Anderson’s house and was contacted by the man at around 11 p.m. Saturday to advise him the child’s feet had been burned.  When he came to pick her up from Anderson, he immediately brought her to the hospital.

Medical staff reported the girl’s feet were burned so badly that the skin was peeling off her feet. They did not find the burns to be consistent with the symptoms of sunburn.

Anderson told deputies that he and the child played outside for several hours, but he said he only noticed the burns on the girl’s feet after he gave her a bath later Saturday night. He told investigators that he may have accidentally burned the child’s feet in the bath.
