Man arrested for assisted suicide in Terrebonne Parish

Bayou Blue- A man accused of assisting in the death of his wife, is now behind bars.

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Deputies arrested Charles Fanguy, of Bayou Blue, Wednesday.

Deputies say Fanguy's wife, Betty, was found by her husband unresponsive on the kitchen floor.

They say she had several medical issues and had shown suicidal tendencies.  Evidence showed Betty had taken prescription pills and alcohol, contributing to her death.

Detectives say Fanguy had confessed to several acquaintances to assisting Betty with ending her life by giving her prescription pills and  a non-alcoholic beverage to help her swallow the pills after finding her inured from a fall inside their residence.

Fanguy was booked into the Terrebonne Parish Jail, with a bond set at $200,000.
