BATON ROUGE- A Greenwell Springs man was arrested after he allegedly inappropriately touched a 13-year-old female juvenile in the pool at his house.

According to arrest records, the incident took place on Aug. 5th, when authorities were contacted in regard to a 13-year-old female juvenile who said she had been inappropriately touched by the suspect, Samuel Newberry, 35, of Greenwell Springs.

The juvenile victim was transported by authorities so that a forensic interview could be conducted.

During the forensic interview, the juvenile victim stated that while at Newberry's residence for a party, she was in and out of the swimming pool which was also occupied by other individuals at the party. The victim said she returned to the pool after eating and continued to play as Newberry and others were still in the pool.

Newberry was allegedly holding the juvenile around the waist as she was facing away from him, when Newberry began to touch the victim underneath and outside of her swimsuit, according to arrest records. The victim said Newberry then picked her up off her feet and then let her go, at which time she said she felt Newberry's erect penis next to the back side of her body, according to arrest records.

The juvenile victim said she was able to get away from Newberry as her parents approached her. She then told her parents what happened once away from Newberry and the pool.

Newberry was brought to EBRSO headquarters for questioning. After he was advised of his rights, Newberry advised that he would like to speak with an attorney before speaking with authorities.

Newberry was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count of molestation of a juvenile. Newberry was also charged for having an expired vehicle registration and expired vehicle inspection. His bond was set at $430.
