THIBODAUX - Thibodaux Police arrested a man after slamming a victim to the ground until unconscious and pushing a police officer into traffic.

On Friday, June 24 around 1:20 a.m., 18-year-old Chase Hutchinson and the victim were arguing outside of a bar at the intersection of West 2nd and St. Philip Street. Hutchinson eventually slammed the victim to the ground, knocking him unconscious. Hutchinson then fled the area, but was apprehended by police. The victim later regained consciousness and refused medical treatment.

Hutchinson resisted police as he was being walked to the patrol unit. Once at the unit, Hutchinson pushed his body off the car and into the officer, pushing the officer into the roadway where vehicles were passing.

As the officer tried to control Hutchinson, he grabbed the officers fingers and twisted them. Other officers began to assist, and were able to gain control over Hutchinson.

Once inside the unit, Hutchinson began to hit his head against the cage barrier between the front and back seats.

Hutchinson was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on second degree battery, battery of a police officer and resisting an officer charges. He was later released that same day around 2:19 p.m. after posting his $7,000 bond.
