Man arrested after chase, armed robbery of his mother
BATON ROUGE – A man accused of robbing his mother at gunpoint has been arrested after a chase with East Baton Rouge sheriff's deputies.
Casey Hicks with EBRSO said 41-year-old Travis Hoover was arrested after he fled from deputies in a white SUV, and later crashed near the intersection of Bluebonnet and Burbank.
Hicks said Hoover broke into his brother's home earlier and stole several items, and tried to steal a vehicle. She said he then robbed his mother at gunpoint and stole her vehicle; he was pulling out when deputies arrived on the scene and began chasing him.
The pursuit reached speeds of 100mph, until Hoover's vehicle flipped at Burbank and Bluebonnett.
Hoover was booked on charges of armed robbery, simple burglary, theft of a vehicle, aggravated flight, resisting an officer, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
