Man arrested after car chase
BATON ROUGE - A man trying to escape a traffic stop crashed into two cars and was arrested on a number of charges including battery on a police officer.
Deputies say Carl McFadden was driving with a broken taillight Sunday afternoon. When a patrol unit tried to stop him, he sped away.
After losing the patrol unit, McFadden's car was seen again speeding toward the officer with a blown tire. Deputies say McFadden then drove through someone's yard and jumped from the vehicle and tried to run.
While attempting to subdue McFadden, the officer says McFadden kicked him and tried to pull his firearm from the holster.
Investigators say that they later learned McFadden struck two other vehicles while trying to escape from the deputy the first time.
McFadden was arrested on battery, aggravated flight, aggravated escape, damage to property, and disarming a police officer charges.
He also had an active warrant for four counts of armed robbery and cocaine distribution.
