Man arrested after attempted rape at gunpoint
BATON ROUGE - Police said they arrested a man accused of attempting to rape a 15-year-old at gunpoint Sunday.
Law enforcement charged 44-year-old Johnnie Pearson with attempted armed robbery, attempted aggravated rape and kidnapping charges. He also faces charges for carrying a firearm as he was convicted of manslaughter in 1990.
Officials said the victim was walking east on North St. near 15th when he was approached by Pearson who pulled a black revolver on him and demanded the victim empty his pockets.
Pearson then forced the victim behind a vacant house at gunpoint and told the victim to pull down his pants, according to authorities. When Pearson placed the revolver on the ground and began to pull his own pants down, the victim said they ran and were able to escape.
Police said they located Pearson at the 1500 block of Florida St. and he fled on foot when approached by officers.
Officers used a stun gun to subdue Pearson, placed him under arrest, and booked him into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
