BATON ROUGE - Authorities charged a West Monroe man with distributing child porn after an investigation by multiple state and federal authorities.

The Louisiana Attorney General's Office said 28-year-old Jamison Harvey was charged Monday with eight counts of distributing and one count of possessing child pornography.

The AG's Cyber Crimes Unit said they began investigating Harvey after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children sent them a tip that he was uploading child porn onto a social media site. Authorities got a search warrant for Harvey's home and said he admitted to them he'd seen and exchanged child porn in the past.

Agents got an arrest warrant for Harvey after looking into evidence taken from his home. Deputies arrested Harvey Monday and booked him into the Ouachita Parish jail.

Attorney General Buddy Caldwell said the joint investigation involved the Cyber Crime Unit, Homeland Security Investigations, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office, and the Louisiana State Police.

The Attorney General's Cyber Crime Unit investigates computer crimes which have victimized children from infants to 17 years of age. To report suspected cases of Internet crime, call 1-800-256-4506.
