Man accused of soliciting girl on Facebook
CLINTON - Investigators arrested a Jackson man after they said he tried to get a girl younger than 12 to have sex with him.
Deputies arrested Chadwick Blackard, 21, after the victim's mother checked her daughter's Facebook account and noticed Blackard had been chatting with the girl.
According the East Feliciana Sheriff's Office, Blackard and the minor had been talking on the social media site for months before the mother noticed the inappropriate messages this past July.
During the investigation, detectives discovered Blackard may have solicited sex from other children.
"Thank goodness we stopped this before it got too far," said Detective Kevin Garig. "It was heads-up for the mom to bring it to our attention, and in doing so may have saved another."
Blackard is still in jail on a $25,000 dollar bond.
Detectives say if you have a child who's on a social media site, pay extra attention to whom they're chatting with.
