Man accused of robbing bank on election day
BATON ROUGE - Police arrested a man they said robbed a bank in downtown Baton Rouge today.
Cpl. L'Jean McKneely said officers arrested Karl Shelvin, 29, of Opelousas shortly after the robbery around 2:22 p.m. today.
McKneely said Shelvin went into the State Bank and Trust at 665 Florida Street with a note demanding money.
They said he fled on foot after grabbing the money, and was caught shortly after by detectives.
Officers booked Shelvin into the parish jail in suspicion of simple burglary.
