Man accused of molesting 11-year-old girl
BATON ROUGE - Police accused a Baton Rouge man this week of molesting an 11-year-old in his care while the girl's mother wasn't home.
Police arrested 35-year-old Edward Humphrey Jr. Tuesday on charges of molestation of a juvenile and sexual battery.
Investigators said the 11-year-old victim told them that on the night of Jan. 22 Humphrey picked her up while she was sleeping and brought her into his room, where he was watching porn. The victim told detectives Humphrey tried to get her to perform oral sex on him, but she fled the room.
The victim said Humphrey followed her to her room and held her down on the bed, rubbing himself on the outside of her jeans. She told police he also tried to get her pants off, but she pushed him off before he could. She said he also threatened her, and told her not to speak about what happened to anybody or else she would never see her mother again.
Police questioned Humphrey and said he told them he couldn't remember what happened that night, but he denied touching the victim. He did admit owning porn which the victim had access to and had viewed in the past.
Police booked Humphrey into the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail.
