A man accused of killing his estranged wife in St. Martinville nearly a month ago has been caught in a New Iberia sugar cane field.
Police say 36-year-old Paul Stanley Collins was caught after a 24-hour chase, including about a 1½-mile search with dogs through thick sugar cane.
He allegedly stole an ex-girlfriend's car in New Iberia to get to St. Martinville, then broke into the apartment of 29-year-old Labrandis Collins, dragged her into a field behind her home and shot her to death.
