Man accused of holding couple captive for 5 days
GONZALES - Sheriff's deputies arrested an Ascension Parish man after they said he held members of his family captive at their home for five days.
Deputies said they arrested Richard Miley, 44, of Gonzales Monday and charged him with false imprisonment, domestic abuse battery, simple criminal damage to property, and parole violation.
Investigators said the victims told them Miley held them captive and damaged their home. The victims said Miley had been living with them for the past eight months and "seemed normal" until he took them captive.
Major Ward Webb said Miley told deputies he had stopped taking his medication, which caused his actions.
Deputies booked Miley into the parish jail without bond.
