BATON ROUGE - The case of a man accused of hiring people to kill his wife over an expensive divorce was in Baton Rouge court Tuesday morning.

Hamid Ghassemi's case was in court for a change in attorneys defending him against first-degree murder charges.

Ghassemi is accused of hiring three people to kill his ex-wife, Tahereh Ghassemi, who won a $1 million divorce settlement from her ex-husband according to court records. Investigators said Hamid paid the killers $10,000 to kidnap his wife, shoot her, burn her car and bury her body.

A grand jury indicted Ghassemi in September, along with Tyler Lee Aspaugh of Denham Springs, Skyler Williams of Denham Springs, and Daniel Richter of Walker for their alleged roles in the murder conspiracy. Detectives said Aspaugh confessed he was with Williams and Richter when they kidnapped and killed Tahereh and used Hamid's SUV, which they eventually returned to Hamid.

A court date for another motions hearing was set for March 20.
