Man accused of fatally shooting woman before crash on Winbourne Ave.

UPDATE: Police have arrested a man in connection with a July shooting that left a 38-year-old woman dead. 

Police say 23-year-old Hendrick Tate was riding in a vehicle with the victim when he shot her. 

The victim was later found in her crashed vehicle on Winbourne Avenue

Tate will be booked on the charge of second-degree murder.

BATON ROUGE - Police discovered a woman dead inside a wrecked car in the 4000 block of Winbourne Ave. Tuesday morning.

According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, 38-year-old Andretta Selder-Fields of Baton Rouge was shot while driving her vehicle.  A man suspected of shooting the woman ran away.  

The car was wrecked into a fence and bushes near Istrouma High.  

The shooting happened around 5 a.m. Tuesday.  The woman died at the scene.  

Parts of Winbourne were closed this morning, but have since re-opened. The shooter is believed to still be in the area.
