Man accused of covering up lover's murder
BATON ROUGE - A man was arrested in the shooting death of his girlfriend after he claimed she shot herself.
Deputies say Jason Bringier, 32, initially told them Lucinda White, 30, shot herself in the head on Monday at a residence on Toulon Drive.
He told deputies that he heard a gunshot and ran into the room to find her bleeding and called his mom prior to calling 911, according to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office.
During further questioning, investigators say Bringier admitted to shooting her on accident while a child was in the scene, but deputies say physical evidence shows the shooting was intentional.
Bringier is also accused of throwing a gun and drugs into the garbage so investigators couldn't find them.
He is charged with second-degree murder, illegal carrying of a firearm, obstruction of justice and possession of marijuana.
