Maltese Falcon to sell at auction
NEW YORK- For the first time ever, the statuette featured in the 1941 movie "The Maltese Falcon" is up for sale at auction. The figurine does not have a pre-sale estimate. It was the prop for the John Huston film that starred Humphrey Bogart as a private eye trying to recover it. It has an etched Warner Brothers inventory number and is the only version known to have been used in the movie. The black figurine has been featured at museums in Paris and New York and the current owner has had it for decades.
