BATON ROUGE - Stores are gearing up for a big shopping season, but some don’t have enough workers.
Even in an economic downturn, one major employer can’t get help; the Mall of Louisiana is having trouble filling job openings.
People used to flock to the Mall of Louisiana looking for part-time jobs to make a little extra holiday cash. However, people haven’t been going there looking for work the way they have in years past.
In an effort to try to get more helpers in stores over the holidays, the Mall of Louisiana is hosting a job fair next week, complete with on-site interviews.
Stores in Cortana Mall and Perkins Rowe told News 2 they've had more applicants at some stores than others.
The Mall of Louisiana job fair will be next Thursday starting at 6 p.m. in the food court. Applicants are asked to dress appropriately and have knowledge and/or proof of work history.
