Major road project delayed
BATON ROUGE- Road construction on Staring Lane will continue longer since the contractor was approved for additional time and money.
The street is being widened to four lanes. Work has been happening along a stretch between Highland Road and Perkins Road for about two years. It was expected to be complete by December 2013.
The city said Wednesday, weather and an old sewer pipe caused delays on the project.
The new completion date is set for the first part of 2014.
