Mainieri to give Fraley more playing time, at-bats
BATON ROUGE - Jake Fraley has made the most of his limited at-bats with the LSU baseball team: now head coach Paul Mainieri is ready to see what his freshman outfielder does with a full workload.
Fraley will be in the lineup Wednesday night against McNeese State and most likely often this weekend against Mississippi State- all the result of getting 10 hits in his 23 at-bats this season.
Fraley's .435 average is a bright spot on a team sorely in need of an offensive boost.
"I'm gonna have that mindset whenever I get up there is you know (be a) spark for the team," Fraley said Tuesday.
"Whatever comes my way, whether that's getting a bunt down, getting a base hit or stealing a base, or like I said giving up my at bat. You know, whatever I can do to help my team, it's gonna boost us to get a "w" whatever it is."
