Mainieri named NCBWA Coach of the Year

BATON ROUGE, La. - LSU baseball coach Paul Mainieri can add another award on his already prestigious résumé.

The National College Baseball Writers' Association awarded Mainieri as the Coach of the Year at a press conference Saturday morning in Omaha.

He has skippered the Tigers to a 53-10 record, and a College World Series berth, which begins today. LSU also won the SEC regular season championship, and are undefeated in NCAA post season play.

This is Mainieri's fourth time to receive the honor as he accepted it in 2008 and 2009 with LSU, and in 2000 witrh Notre Dame.  

LSU will begin their quest for a national title on Sunday at 2 pm against TCU.
