CENTRAL - Governor Jindal and representatives from Livingston Parish cut ribbon officially opening the Magnolia Bridge yesterday.

Central officials said they weren't invited to the ceremony, and are upset because of their involvement with the project.

"All the discussion was about how it improves traffic for Livingston Parish," said Central Chief Administrative Officer David Barrow. "No one even mentioned Central."

The bridge connects Denham Springs and Central, creating a smooth commute from parish to parish. Central took the burden of traffic during construction. Cars would back up for blocks leading up to the old bridge.

The lack of an invite generated a lengthy discussion on Facebook. The post read: It would have been nice if Central officials had been notified of this ceremony so that we could have attended.

"There were a lot of people in Central that felt left out," said Barrow.

DOTD spokesperson Jodi Conachen issued a statement this afternoon. "We apologize and will keep the mayor informed about future events."
