A cash management plan will free up $120 million for road construction projects across the state, Gov. Bobby Jindal announced Tuesday. That will impact plans for the Magnolia Bridge, which connects northern East Baton Rouge and northern Livingston parishes.
About $23 million dollars will be used to replace the bridge, which crosses the Amite River. The new bridge will accommodate possible four laning of the route in the future.
It is a popular route for thousands of commuters traveling between Central and Denham Springs.
