ZACHARY- Improvements are underway on MacHost Road after years of serious and sometimes deadly accidents.
MacHost connects Main Street in Zachary with Pride-Port Hudson Road. The plans involve widening the road. Trees will be removed. New ditches will be installed.
Firefighter Ben Zachary lost a friend in a deadly wreck a few years ago. He says the improvements are overdue.
The MacHost Road improvements are a joint project between the East Baton Rouge Parish Metro Council and the City of Zachary. It will cost about $2.4 million dollars. Trees scheduled to be cut down have already been marked.
