BATON ROUGE - University officials will discuss problems that plagued fans this past Saturday at Tiger Stadium.

LSU tailgaters were met with hours-long traffic jams and parking chaos instead of steady moving cars and open spots.

The mess led to Mike Clegg missing the chance of a lifetime.

"I've driven to the game some 45 years and never in my experience has it ever taken me two hours to get from my house to the game," Clegg said.

He missed being on the field for pregame.

"It was very important because a client and a friend of mine, Corey Webster, wanted me to be on the field. He was giving $200,000 to LSU for the wellness program, and it was very important for me to be there for him and unfortunately I wasn't able to make it," Clegg said.

People took their frustration to Twitter calling the experience "awful", comparing the traffic to hurricane evacuations.  One poster said he decided to skip the game and go back home to Lafayette.

"I must have seen 100 people turn around," Clegg said.

Too many people parking too early in the free parking lots caused the back-up, said LSU Athletics spokesman Michael Bonnett.

He also said the university will reach out to police departments around the area on Tuesday to see if they can help with the problem.
