Tiger quarterback Zach Mettenberger has had problems holding onto the ball early in the game against Auburn.

A fumbled exchange from center Elliott Porter negated a red zone scoring chance for the third time this season after a Mettenberger turnover.

The Tiger defense would rise to the occasion and record a safety to take the 2-0 lead over Auburn.

LSU would get the ball back and running backs Spencer Ware and Michael Ford would push the Tigers into the endzone for the first touchdown of the game, LSU would lead 9-0.

However on LSU's next offensive possession, Mettenberger was stripped of the ball by Auburn's Corey Lemonier and the other Tigers punched it in a couple of plays later to tighten up the score 9-7 at the end of the first quarter.
