UNDATED - LSU's role in the SEC and national championship pictures have faded with two losses this season, but the No. 8 Tigers aren't totally dead yet. Just close to it.
LSU tries to keep hope alive when it visits disappointing Arkansas this afternoon. A Tigers win is a must if they have any championship chance. And even if they do pull it off, they'll have to depend on Auburn to upset No. 2 Alabama tomorrow to gain traction in the title chases in the SEC and BCS.
After being ranked in the top 10 to start the season, Arkansas has struggled to a 4-7 mark. It's expected that interim coach John L. Smith will not keep his job.
Nebraska is zeroing in on a spot in the Big Ten title game as it readies to visit Iowa this afternoon. The surging Cornhuskers have won five in a row, and a victory today locks up a berth in the championship game. Even if Nebraska unexpectedly doesn't win, a conference championship game spot can still be had, if Michigan loses to Ohio State tomorrow.
Kent State will be trying to finish off a perfect Mid-American Conference season when it takes on Ohio University today. The 23rd ranked Golden Flashes are 7-0 in the conference, the same as No. 24 Northern Illinois.
The Huskies take a ten-game winning streak into today's game against Eastern Michigan. Kent State and Northern Illinois will face off in the MAC title game next week.
