LSU to vote on practice organization
SHREVEPORT - A nonprofit corporation will represent LSU School of Medicine doctors who see patients at former LSU public hospitals in Shreveport and Monroe.
LSU System supervisors Friday will vote on creating a faculty practice organization for LSU Health Shreveport.
Sally Croom, an LSU Health Shreveport spokeswoman, says the proposal is modeled on a faculty practice group that represents LSU School of Medicine doctors in New Orleans.
Creation of the faculty practice organization is part of the process to sever direct ties between the medical school and the former public hospitals.
Biomedical Research Foundation will take over operation of the Shreveport and Monroe hospitals Oct. 1. The medical school will remain a publicly funded part of the LSU System.
