LSU to start Poche in CWS opener
BATON ROUGE - LSU will send left-hander Jared Poche to the mound for their opening game of the College World Series.
The sophomore is 9-1 on the season, including a 2-0 record in NCAA postseason play, during which he has earned a 0.55 ERA.
Paul Mainieri announced his decision Friday, but it came after many expectations due to TCU's dominant left-handed batting order.
National Freshman of the Year Alex Lange (11-0, 1.89 ERA) is expected to start the Tigers' second game in Omaha.
LSU plays TCU Sunday at 2 p.m. on ESPN. You can watch the pre-CWS LSU press conference on YouTube by clicking here.
