LSU to host Oklahoma for 2016 hoops matchup
BATON ROUGE - The Southeastern Conference and Big 12 announced Thursday that Oklahoma will travel to Baton Rouge in 2016 to face LSU.
The Tigers and Sooners have met four times in the last 45 years with each side winning two games. This will be the first time the teams have played in Baton Rouge.
"The ability to showcase SEC basketball in this kind of inter-conference competition makes this a unique and exciting event for our coaches, student-athletes and fans," SEC Commissioner Mike Slive said.
The Jan. 30, 2016 matchup will be part of the conferences' third annual Big 12 / SEC Challenge. Ten games in all that day will feature Big 12 vs. SEC matchups, including a mid-season match between Kentucky and Kansas, the two winningest teams in college basketball.
