LSU takes SEC tournament championship, will host NCAA regional
HOOVER, Al. - The LSU Tigers baseball team took home their second SEC tournament championship in as many years by beating the Florida Gators 2-0.
The loan runs of the game came on Sean McMullen's 2-run home run to right field in the 8th inning off Ryan Harris.
Alden Cartwright got the start for LSU. He gave up 4 walks and 1 hit in 4 innings, but kept the Gators off the board. He was one of 4 pitchers LSU used to shut out UF in a surprising pitchers' duel.
The Tigers will go into the NCAA tournament next weekend on an eight game winning streak and will host an NCAA regional for the 22nd time. They will find out Monday at 11am if they will be a top 8 national seed.
During the 8 game winning streak, LSU outscored their opponent 87-8. Two of their four SEC tournament contests ended early due to the 10-run rule.
