LSU takes on Mississippi State
No. 10 LSU (14-3) begins Southeastern Conference action this weekend as the Tigers play host to No. 21 Mississippi State (14-5) in a three-game series in Alex Box Stadium. Game 1 of the series is set for 7 p.m. Friday, Game 2 begins at 6 p.m. Saturday, and first pitch for Game 3 is 1 p.m. Sunday. "This is the time of the year we've all been waiting for and our players are very excited to begin conference play," said LSU coach Paul Mainieri. "It feels great just to say it - 'SEC.'" LSU and Mississippi State have a tremendous rivalry that was developed by (former LSU coach) Skip Bertman and (former MSU coach) Ron Polk beginning in the 1980s, and it means a lot to both programs. Mississippi State has a very talented club, so we're looking forward to a great challenge this weekend." LSU has won nine of its last 10 games, including a 13-0 victory over Northwestern State on Wednesday night.
