LSU softball to meet No. 1 Florida in WCWS battle
OKLAHOMA CITY - No. 8 LSU softball is gearing up to take on top-seeded defending national champion Florida in the Women's College World Series winner's bracket.
First is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m. with the meeting between the Tigers and the Gators to air on ESPN, along with watchESPN.com. A live audio feed will be available for free at www.LSUsports.net/live.
During Thursday's WCWS opening round, LSU (51-12) rolled to a 6-1 win over the Auburn Tigers, while Florida (56-6) took down Tennessee by a score of 7-2. LSU will be the home team when they step onto the diamond at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium - OGE Stadium in Oklahoma City later tonight.
The Tigers were led to their opening round win by a 10-hit attack from Bianka Bell, increasing their win streak to six. The Gators have won an impressive 24 of their last 26 games with the major leadership role taken on by SEC Pitcher of the Year and USA Softball National Player of the Year, Lauren Haeger. LSU outscored Florida 24-13 over a weekend during their last series of meetings.
