LSU softball ties Georgia series with 8th inning walk-off
BATON ROUGE - Just two innings away from losing another weekend series, the LSU softball team executed a dramatic comeback with four runs in the 6th inning and a walk-off hit in the bottom of the 8th against the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday.
Jacee Blades delivered the game-winning shot for the Tigers (23-18, 5-9) who now have a chance to win their second-straight conference series on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers trailed 3-0 after 5 1/2 innings, but Constance Quinn smacked a 3-run home run in the bottom of the 6th to tie the game, and then Sandra Simmons scored the go-ahead run off a Bulldogs error later in the inning.
The Bulldogs responded with a run in the top of the 7th, though, and after two scoreless half, innings, it set the stage for Blades' heroics in the 8th.
