LSU Softball advances to WCWS with 10-5 victory over Arizona
BATON ROUGE, LA - The dream season continues for LSU softball.
The Tigers defeating the Arizona Wildcats in game two of their super regional, to advance to the Women's College World Series.
This is the 4th trip for LSU to the WCWS, and the first since 2012. This was also the first time the Tigers were able to host a Super Regional, and punch their ticket to OKC in front of the fans at Tiger Park.
LSU opening the game with 4 runs to jump out to a 4-0 lead and they never looked back. The Wildcats definitely making it a close contest at times, narrowing it to 4-2 after one and 8-5 after five.
Tigers first baseman Sandra Simmons had herself an all-star performance. She was 3-3 at the plate with 5 RBI. Designated hitter Constance Quinn also played a big role, with 3 RBI of her own.
On the mound, Allie Walljasper getting the start, allowing only 2 earned runs in 4 1/3 innings. Then Carley Hoover came in to pitch 2 2/3 shutout innings to seal the win.
LSU will take on Auburn in their first game at the WCWS. The game time has not yet been determined.
