LSU's Sam Montgomery fueled by teammates' dreams
BATON ROUGE - Sam Montgomery will hop around like a frog near the line of scrimmage if that's what it takes to fire up LSU's defense.
Once the center snaps the ball, the defensive end is as ferocious as he is goofy. He had 3 1/2 tackles for losses last weekend at Auburn, including a crucial safety in the 12-10 victory.
Montgomery says teammates worry something is wrong if he's not acting a little crazy on the field. He says he feels a responsibility to be an emotional leader for No. 3 LSU's defense, and that he summons that energy by thinking about the dreams of his teammates.
Montgomery, an AP third-team All-American last season, has six tackles for losses this season.
LSU hosts Towson on Saturday night.
