LSU's Pocic, Guice pick up SEC honors
BATON ROUGE - The Southeastern Conference named LSU center Ethan Pocic and running back Derrius Guice for two player of the week awards after the Tigers' win over South Carolina.
The SEC tapped Pocic as Offensive Lineman of the Week, while Guice was named Freshman of the Week.
The junior center Pocic led the Tigers with 17 knockdowns and didn't allow a sack while helping LSU's offense rack up a season-high 624 total yards. He previously earned Offensive Lineman of the Week honors from the SEC after the Tigers beat Mississippi State.
Guice rushed for a career-high 161 yards on 16 carries against South Carolina. He also scored his first career touchdown and averaged 10.1 yards per carry, leading LSU's rushing offense to 396 total yards. It's also the most rushing yards for a true freshman at LSU since 2003, when Justin Vincent had 201 yards in the SEC Championship win over Georgia.
