LSU's Miles: Freshman QB to start vs. Auburn
BATON ROUGE - LSU coach Les Miles has announced that true freshman Brandon Harris will start at quarterback against No. 5 Auburn on Saturday.
It will be Harris' his first career start after sophomore Anthony Jennings started the first five games for LSU (4-1). LSU scored touchdowns on nine of the last 10 series Harris has played in relief of Jennings.
However, a person familiar with the situation says the No. 15 Tigers won't have safety Dwayne Thomas for the rest of the season because of a torn knee ligament. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the injury hasn't been announced.
Thomas was helped off of the field during LSU's 63-7 victory over New Mexico State on Saturday night.
