BATON ROUGE - The Southeastern Conference named LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger their Offensive Player of the Week after he led the Tigers to their highest score against an SEC opponent in 16 years.
No. 10 LSU scored a 59-26 victory over Mississippi State including a 31-3 advantage in the second half. The 59 points were the most by an LSU side since the 1997 squad scored 63 against Kentucky.
Mettenberger completed 25-of-29 passes for 340 yards and two touchdowns. The 25 completions were also the most by an LSU quarterback since Rohan Davey had 31 in the 2002 Sugar Bowl.
LSU head football coach Les Miles is scheduled to talk to the media starting at 12:30. His comments will be carried live on WBRZ.com and on WBTR Cox Cable 19.
