LSU's Hunter nets SEC honor
BATON ROUGE - The Southeastern Conference named LSU defensive end Danielle Hunter their Defensive Lineman of the Week after the Tigers' 17-6 win over Florida this past weekend.
Hunter, a sophomore from Texas, had seven tackles and knocked down two passes against the Gators.
The Tigers' defense kept Florida out of the end zone for the entire game, the first time since 1979.
Elsewhere in the SEC, Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel was named Offensive Player of the Week, while Missouri linebacker Kentrell Brothers earned Defensive Player of the Week honors. Arkansas punter Sam Irwin netted Special Teams SEC honors, while Auburn quarterback Jeremy Johnson was named Freshman of the Week. Alabama guard Anthony Steen was named the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week.
