LSU's Duncan finalist for SI athlete of year

BATON ROUGE - LSU's Kimberlyn Duncan is among the five finalists for the Sports Illustrated Women's College Athlete of the Year award for the 2012-13 season.

LSU says Duncan learned that she was a finalist on Wednesday as she prepared for the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash at the SEC Outdoor Championships set for this weekend.

Duncan won the 2012 Bowerman Award for the nation's premier women's collegiate track and field athlete.

Joining Duncan as a finalists for the Sports Illustrated award are Oregon's Liz Brenner, Baylor's Britney Griner, North Carolina's Loren Shealy and Northwestern's Taylor Thornton.
