LSU's Bregman selected 2nd overall in MLB draft by Astros
BATON ROUGE - The dream season continues for Alex Bregman, as the LSU shortstop was selected 2nd overall in the Major League Baseball draft by the Houston Astros on Monday.
The selection comes one day after Bregman's Tigers punched a ticket to the College World Series - the 2nd trip for Bregman in his 3 years with the team.
The Tigers shortstop is considered one of the top defensive players in the country, and has earned numerous awards during his time in Baton Rouge, most recently earning 1st team All SEC honors for his efforts in 2015.
Bregman is also a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award, given to the top college baseball player in the country.
Bregman could return to LSU for his senior year, but would turn down millions of dollars in order to make that decision.
Bregman and the Tigers start their CWS run on Sunday at 2pm.
