The LSU Tigers are number 16 in the USA Today preseason coaches' poll, released this morning.  This ranking comes despite some low expectations at SEC Media Days a few weeks ago.

Les Miles and company were predicted to finish fourth in the SEC West by broadcasters and writers in Hoover, Alabama.  LSU was predicted to finish behind Arkansas and Auburn.

However, the Tigers enter the season ranked ahead of the Razorbacks (19) and Auburn Tigers (23).  Alabama is ranked number 1, coming off its national championship last season.

The full rankings are listed below.  The coaches' poll is part of the BCS formula used to determine its national champion.
