LSU QB, Tulane TD returnees earn LSWA POW honors

BATON ROUGE- LSU Tiger quarterback Zach Mettenberger and Tulane's Lorenzo Doss and Derrick Strozier who both returned opponent's plays for touchdowns earned Louisiana Sports Writers Association Player of the Week honors.

Mettenberger threw for 340 yards and two TDs in LSU's 59-26 win over Mississippi State to earn offensive honors while Lorenzo Doss, a Green Wave cornerback, returned an interception for a score in a 24-21 win over North Texas to capture defensive honors. Meanwhile, Derrick Strozier of Tulane became the first player in Tulane history to return a blocked field goal for a touchdown in the same game against North Texas.
