BATON ROUGE - Dr. King Alexander, the finalist selected for LSU's vacant president's office, started his tour of the university campus today.
Alexander is currently president of California State University at Long Beach. A search committee announced him as their finalist for the LSU president's job earlier this week.
Alexander met with about 100 members of the university staff this morning, and planned meetings with faculty and students as well.
The LSU Faculty Senate held a "no confidence" vote on the Board of Supervisors after Alexander's selection. They questioned the board's closed-door handling of the presidential search, and noted Alexander has never been a tenured full professor at a major research university. They also said graduation rates at his university are lower than those at LSU.
News 2's Michael Shingleton is with Alexander during his visit, and will have more details starting at 4 p.m.
