LSU Police arrest squatter suspect
BATON ROUGE - LSU Police arrested a man they said had been living in a room on the university campus, and was caught on a stolen bike.
Capt. Cory Lalonde said police apprehended Scott Edward Michelli, 43, after a caller said they spotted him riding a bike near South Campus Drive and Highland Road.
Police said Michelli was found using a room in Patrick F. Taylor Hall without permission from LSU. Lalonde said Michelli was gone by the time officers got there, but they found stolen clothes as well as other items among his belongings.
Then Lalonde said on Tuesday afternoon someone called LSU Police and told them Michelli was on a bike riding down Highland Road. Officers found Michelli and arrested him, and Lalonde said the bike turned out to have been reported stolen from Allen Hall last month.
Police booked Michelli into the parish jail on suspicion of felony bicycle theft, possession of stolen property, and unauthorized entry.
