BATON ROUGE - LSU expects to welcome 105 players to campus on Wednesday as the Tigers prepare for their 12th season under head coach Les Miles.

The 2016 football season will open on Saturday, Sept. 3 against Wisconsin at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. It’s the first major college game contested at the legendary stadium, and it’s also quickly emerging as one of the hottest tickets in college football for the season ahead.

On Wednesday, opening day of fall training camp will consist of a series of organizational, academic and team meetings for the team as they ready themselves for the first day of practice on Thursday. The players are also being fitted for new equipment as well as undergoing physicals and other screenings provided by medical staff.

16 starters are returning on offense and defense with All-America running back Leonard Fournette amongst the pack of experienced players. Other All-America selections, center Ethan Pocic and safety Jamal Adams, will be welcome returns.

Action on the field will consist of split-squad workouts during the first four days. The veterans will take mornings, and the newcomers and some selected veterans will have afternoon workouts. The full squad won’t take to the field at the same time until Monday, Aug. 8.

The Tigers’ first scrimmage of fall camp is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 13. LSU will then take part in Media Day and Fan Day on the following Saturday. LSU’s fall semester begins on Monday, Aug. 22.
