LSU merchandise sales up
People are gearing up for the LSU-Florida game by buying new gear. Retailers in Baton Rouge and surrounding areas say sales are up.
LSU gets 10 percent of the wholesale price for licensed items. Fifty percent of the royalties go to athletics and the other half goes to the LSU general fund.
The money LSU collects has risen from less than $1 million in 2002 to more than $5 million in 2008. LSU ranked fourth in merchandise sales for 2008, behind Texas, Michigan and Florida.
