LSU lands 5-star recruits in football, basketball
Five star recruits are hard to land in any sport. If a school lands two in one day, that's a big deal. But what if it's in two different sports?
That's what happened today for LSU, as the Tigers landed WR Tyron Johnson in football and SG Antonio Blakeney in basketball.
Johnson, a New Orleans native, is the number one ranked overall player in Louisiana. He's also considered the number two wide receiver in the nation, according to multiple recruiting websites.
The former Warren Easton standout is 6'1', 190 lbs. He was also considering Oklahoma State and Texas Tech, among other schools.
For LSU hoops, they pick up Blakeney out of Oak Ridge in Florida. He is considered the number two shooting guard in the nation, according to ESPN. Standing at 6'4', 170 lbs, he was also courted by Kentucky, Louisville and Missouri.
Blakeney is the 2nd big time recruit LSU hoops has landed, after signing power forward Ben Simmons, the top prospect in the nation.
