LSU knocks off McNeese St, 79-52
BATON ROUGE - Jarell Martin got his first double-double of the season while carrying LSU to a 79-52 victory Saturday against McNeese State in a non-conference game.
Martin finished with 14 points and a season-high 10 rebounds. He knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and made all four of his foul shots. Johnny O'Bryant and Shavon Coleman were the top scorers for the Tigers (9-2) with 16 points each. Jordan Mickey added 11.
After playing somewhat lackadaisically for most of the opening half, LSU came to life over the final seven minutes. Trailing 17-16, the Tigers took the lead for good on a 3-pointer by Anthony Hickey. That basket ignited a 26-8 run to give LSU a 42-25 advantage at the break.
Ledrick Eackles scored 15 points for McNeese State (2-10), who have lost seven games in a row. Desharick Guidry, Craig McFerrin and Kevin Hardy each added 10 points for the Cowboys.
